About Founder
Hola! My name is Betsabé (Beht.sah.beh) (she/her/ella). I was born in the Dominican Republic on a very rainy evening; an appropriate entrance into this physical plane for my water sign self. I was blessed to live on the island with my maternal grandparents for the first half of my childhood, and later immigrated to the United States, setting down roots in New York City where I am currently based.
I have gravitated toward the healing arts for as long as I can remember. I come from a lineage of land stewards. My grandparents, great-grandparents, and generations before them, were farmers and lived directly off the land. They harvested medicinal herbs, tobacco, cacao, coffee, yucca, plátano, tropical fruits, and a variety of other staples. I believe that this connection to the Earth and her healing resources was passed on to me by my ancestors.
I first started learning about herbalism from my grandmother. As a child I would watch her planting trees in her yard, gathering fruits and herbs, and making herbal remedies. She would often have me help her around in the kitchen whenever I wasn’t running around barefoot, rolling around in dirt or climbing trees in search of the best fruit. As a teenager and an adult, I’ve taken herbalism and ethnobotany courses from the American Museum of Natural History, Third Root Community Health Center, The Herbal Academy, and, currently, am part of the latest cohort of Facilitators of Cacao Medicine Training through LavaLove Cacao and Pachamamita. I bring my love of plant medicine to sessions and workshops with clients through the use of herbs and aromatherapy to assist them in balancing their mind and body, and connect them to their True Selves.
In addition to herbalism, my own spiritual healing journey has led me down various paths over the last decade. As a student of Theravada Buddhism and mindfulness practice, I am particularly interested in embodied spirituality. These teachings have saved my life and have awakened in me the purpose to serve as a beacon of light and healing in the world. I have traveled the globe participating in spiritual retreats, trainings, ceremonies, and workshops, blending my love of learning the ancient arts with my passion for travel. I became a certified counselor in 2012, and in 2014 completed my Yoga Teacher Training from Samyak Yoga School in India. In 2018, after a profound retreat in Perú, I was guided to pursue the practice of Reiki as another form of healing. I became a Reiki Master in 2021 following nearly four years of training and practice with Glowing Heart Reiki School.
Wild & Sacred was inspired and divinely birthed with guidance from my ancestors. Its core values are grounded in a deep love for Mother Earth and all of her creations. It weaves together earthy medicine and healing practices from around the world to nurture each individual’s ability to transform, awaken, and foster compassion.
